Summary:

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Physician, the Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.

He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.

Position Responsibilities:

• Scrubs for, prepares, sets-up and assists during any surgical procedure and provides support to nursing and ancillary departments by transporting and transferring patients to and between units when necessary.

• Prepares instruments and supplies for future procedures.

• Collects and handles specimens according to policy and procedures.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

One year OR Training or Experience.

Required Education:

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program.

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

BLS.

Surgical Technologist Certification required for external hires per NJ State Law.

Maintenance of New Jersey State required 15 CEs per year.

Hourly Rate: $27.80 - $43.12 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with the maintenance and setting up of the procedure room in compliance with FMCNA/USV policies and procedures and state and federal regulations. Stocks procedure room and procedure trays with all needed supplies and interventional equipment prior to procedure. Cleans the procedure room including the equipment and machinery post procedure. May assist with preparing the patient for the surgical procedure by positioning, shaving and prepping.
