As a Clinical Adjunct Faculty Nurse, you will serve as an educator in an affiliated Nursing Program. A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide direct nursing care.

  • Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes. 

  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. 

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments. 

  • Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs. 

  • Assess the educational needs of patients and significant others considering cultural issues and other special concerns.

  • Oversight for nursing students as nursing clinical adjunct faculty when not providing direct patient care. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) 

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 

  • Current unencumbered state or multistate compact licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 

  • Two years of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources. A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. including every other weekend and 3 holidays per year. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide direct nursing care. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for a given patient population. Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately. Develop and update goals, involve patients and families in developing plans of care, coordinate the interdisciplinary plan of care and serve as a patient advocate. Provide nursing care, administer treatments and medication, and document. Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes, contribute to the improvement of care and participate in the quality improvement process. Delegate tasks/assignments, serve as a resource person, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications, maintain applicable certification/licensure and obtain any required certifications specific to the unit. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program) Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) Physical Requirements: Full range of body motion for handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination Standing and walking for extended periods of time Corrected vision and hearing to normal range Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects Physical Demand requirements in excess of those for Light Work Personal Protective Equipment: Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures The policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
