Scrub Tech Ortho at Baylor Surgicare Fort Worth I:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Certified Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Prepares and maintains supplies, instruments and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.
Experienced in supporting in the following specialties: Orthopedics, ENT, General, GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry, Urology.

Qualifications:

Education

High school graduate or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification

· BLS Required

· Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program or previous surgical technician experience of at least two years

Required Experience

· Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred

Ortho experience required.

· Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient

· Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation

· Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed

· Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians

About the Role The Certified Surgical Technologists is an allied health professional, who is an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. The Certified Surgical Technologists work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Certified Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. The Surgical Technologist and/or the Certified Surgical Technologist prepares the room and gathers supplies needed for surgical procedures; delivers instruments and supplies to the surgeon and other members of the surgical team intra operatively; may function as second assistant to the surgeon; assists in the proper decontamination of the room, supplies and instruments post operatively. Responsibilities And Duties: 40% Prepares for surgical cases by obtaining and preparing appropriate supplies, equipment and instruments, reviews surgeon's preferences to determine required items. Qualifications Education: · High school graduate or equivalent Licensure/Certification: · Prior verifiable experience as a scrub technician on the OR setting prior to 2009 Or Certification in OR Technology as a (C-SA or C-ST). · Current BLS certification Required Experience: Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program or previous surgical technician experience of at least two years Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient. Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed.
