Medication Aide Responsibilities include:

You will be responsible for setting up and administering resident medications as ordered by physicians and per professional standards of medication administration, and may supervise CNAs as directed
Provides patients' personal hygiene by giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; assisting with travel to the bathroom; helping with showers and baths
Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary; ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals
Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs and weight; testing urine; recording intake and output information

Qualifications:

Job Purpose: To set up and administer medications under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Nurse, and to function as a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) when needed. Shift Availability: Weekend only: 7AM-10PM Essential job Duties and Responsibilities : Medication Administration Functions: Prepares, administers, and documents medications following accepted practices, and in accordance with regulations under the direction and supervision on a Licensed Nurse. Personal Care, Nursing Care, and Food Service Functions: Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing of bed linens, and positioning in and out of bed, chair, etc. Assist with resident recreation programs. Prepares residents for meals and snacks. Assists residents in eating where needed, and records food intake. Reads and follows daily care plans; performs assigned restorative and rehabilitative procedures, reports changes in resident condition to Nurse in charge; documents care provision on resident record/flow sheets as required and reports accidents and incidents, and provides nursing functions as directed by supervisor. Safety, Sanitation and Infection Control: Understands and follows safety, sanitation and infection control policy and procedures, to include but not limited to proper hand washing, proper wearing of masks and gloves and promptly reports any violations to supervisor. In-service and continuing education: Attend orientation and in-service as required by the state. Completes all required on-line education as deemed necessary by the state and the facility. Resident Rights and relationships: Understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding residents’ rights. Promotes positive relationships with residents, visitors and government regulators, to include presenting a professional appearance and attitude.
