Job Summary and Qualifications

Our Registered Nurses raise the bar by providing clinical expertise and the highest quality care in the most compassionate way. Neonatal ICU RNs care for premature babies or babies who develop medical complications during or after delivery and require a higher level of specialized care than a typical hospital nursery. We are an amazing team, that works hard to support each other and are seeking a phenomenal addition like you, who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. 

What you will do in this role:  

  • You will perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient, following standards of care and disease specific protocols. 
  • You will plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.  
  • You will provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN’s scope of practice and in accordance with established policies. 
  • You will provide education and emotional support to premature infants through 2 years of age, culture, condition, and circumstance and incorporate patient/family teaching into all aspects of nursing practice. 

What qualifications you will need:
  • At least 1 year of RN NICU experience is required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • NTD Cardiac Stable Module must be obtained within 18 months of employment start date
  • STABLE must be obtained within 18 months of employment start date
  • Registered Nurse in the state of Texas or compact state license
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Bachelors Degree must be obtained within 2 years of employment start date
  • Neonate Resuscitate, or Neonatal Resuscitation Program must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

Job Summary and Qualifications Under general supervision the Staff RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Medical Center of Lewisville. In collaboration with patient, patient’s family and other members of the health care team, the clinical RN is responsible for assessing the nursing care needs of patients, planning interventions and evaluating outcomes of care. The RN provides direct care and/or supervises nursing care of LVN’s and non-licensed nursing staff. The RN is responsible for providing care consistent with the Nursing Department’s policies, procedures and standards of practice. RN’s are responsible for providing care, which is appropriate to the age specific (neonates and newborns), developmental and safety needs of the assigned patient population. In addition to the RN duties and responsibilities, the RN scope includes charge duties. The charge nurse makes patient assignments and supervises and directs the staff and unit activities for the assigned shift What qualifications you will need: Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Texas or compact license Bachelors Degree in Nursing required Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date STABLE certification must be obtained within 18 months of hire Cardiac STABLE must be obtained within 18 months of hire 1 year of Level III NICU experience required, 2 years preferred PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS · All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period. · Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need. · Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period. · During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee). · Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital. · Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy. · Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND or D2/ECD) · Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation. · Current FT/PT & PRN Level 3 employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program for 2025--26 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year. · Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program. · Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department.
