Under general supervision, the LVN provides day-to-day staff, logistical and administrative assistance to the department and takes the role of the LVN lead. She/he is responsible for coordinating patient flow, assist in adjusting medical assistant/LVN staffing and performing associated nursing services. Schedules appointments; screens and refers phone calls; communicates and interacts with patients; provides clerical and staff support to the Department and assists with clinical operations as required and permitted. The incumbent is also an active member of the clinic team and serves as an exemplary resource to patients, faculty, and clinic personnel.

Essential Duties:

  • 1. Uses and practices basic assessment, participates in planning, executes interventions in accordance with the plan of care or treatment plan, and contributes to evaluation of individualized interventions related to the care plan or treatment plan.
  • 2. Works in a collaborative role with other leads, managers and related offices or organizations.
  • 3. Assists with administrative support activities as delegated.
  • 4. Provide guidance to staff in all aspects of work assignments.
  • 5. Provides direct patient care.
  • 6. Administers medications.
  • 7. Demonstrates professional communication skills for the purpose of patient care, education and multidisciplinary team collaboration.
  • 8. Schedules and receives patients.
  • 9. Prepares and maintains medical records.
  • 10. Performs basic secretarial and medical transcription duties.
  • 11. Enter charges into the system in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • 12. Handles telephone calls and writes correspondences.
  • 13. Serves as a liaison between physicians and other individuals.
  • 14. Takes patient histories and vital signs.
  • 15. Implants an effective and efficient patient flow.
  • 16. Performs first aid and CPR if needed.
  • 17. Assists physicians with exams and treatments as permitted by license.
  • 18. Organize pharmacy refill request for physician approval.
  • 19. Ability to work independently and in a team setting to accomplish duties in a timely manner.
  • 20. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req High school or equivalent
  • Req Specialized/technical training Graduate of an accredited Vocational Nursing Program
  • Req 2 years Experience in a surgical care, acute care or ambulatory care setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref Lead experience preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Licensed Vocational Nurse - LVN (CA DCA) Valid California Vocational Nursing license
  • Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
  • Pref LVN - Intravenous Therapy Certification (CA DCA) IV certification

The hourly rate range for this position is $33.00 – $54.02.
