The Clinical Nurse - Radiation Oncology (Weekend Per Diem) coordinates and manages care for inpatients transported to the Radiation Oncology department for treatment. This role ensures safe transitions, monitors patients during visits, and provides education and support. The nurse collaborates with multiple teams to maintain continuity of care and uphold quality standards.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Registered Nurse with at least three years of nursing experience, preferably in oncology or radiation oncology. Ambulatory care experience and strong critical thinking skills are highly valued. Candidates should be comfortable with inpatient handoffs, telephone triage, and multidisciplinary communication. Flexibility to work variable weekend hours and complete mandatory training during the first two weeks is required.
Schedule: Weekends - Saturday and Sunday; hours vary based on patient census
Hourly Per Diem Rate- $52

- Coordinate care for inpatients receiving outpatient radiation treatments
- Collaborate with inpatient units, transport teams, and Radiation Oncology providers for safe transitions
- Assess and monitor patients during treatment visits for complications or acute needs
- Document assessments, communications, and interventions accurately
- Provide patient support and treatment-related education
- Communicate effectively with all care team members to ensure continuity
- Perform telephone triage and manage patient inquiries
- Receive and give handoffs for inpatient care
- Adapt to variable weekend hours based on patient census
- Maintain compliance with institutional policies and safety standards
- Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Nursing.
- Required: 1 year Relevant clinical nursing experience.
- Required: RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Upon Hire and
- Required: BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire or
- Required: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Upon Hire
- Preferred: OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification Certification in Oncology or specialty practice area. Upon Hire
- Preferred: ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification as required by patient care area. Upon Hire
- Preferred: PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification as required by patient care area. Upon Hire
