JOB LOCATION : Cancer Center
DEPARTMENT: PCC - MEDICAL ONCOLOGY PROF FEES
SCHEDULE: Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift,
POSITION SUMMARY
Assists the RN with delivery of patient care. • Performs patient care procedures. • Functions as patient advocate. • Assists in orienting new staff. • Maintains an atmosphere which ensures South Georgia Medical Center’s values, goals, policies and procedures are consistently supported and enforced.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Education, Certification, & Licensure: o Formal health care education beyond high school with licensure as a Practical Nurse. o Current AHA CPR (C) required.
- One (1) year experience in related acute care specialty preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patient/family units and other staff members.
- Ability to work well individually and as a team member.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new situations, set priorities and use problem-solving techniques in a positive manner.
- Ability to read and interpret policies, standards of care.
- Strong technical skills (e.g., dressing changes, catheter insertion and care, etc.).
- Ability to communicate clearly with, and care for diverse population of patients/family units of all ages, a variety of cultures, and/or persons occasionally exhibiting stressed behaviors.
Works primarily in outpatient hospital setting. Requires some standing and operation of clinical (Dynamap, manual BP cuff, scale) and office equipment (fax machine and computer). Likely to be exposed to blood and body fluids, including infectious diseases. Uses medical, office equipment, and telecommunications devices on a regular basis (e.g., suction devices, computer, and pagers.).
