This position is full time with no weekends, nights or organizationally recognized holidays required. As our Cardiac Nurse, you’ll care for patients who may have life-threatening cardiac events or conditions while helping their families navigate daily care and the long-term plan for healing and maintenance outside of the hospital. You’ll never have the same day twice as your patients’ needs evolve. That’s why you must be adaptable and detail-oriented, observing vitals and reporting the warning signs early to our multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, EKG techs, and other cardiovascular professionals. Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to go the extra mile for your patients and your strong assessment skills. Administers cardiovascular and pharmacological stress tests with the use of imaging modalities and IV therapy as appropriate; interprets EKG findings in accordance with standard protocols. Complete multiple request forms for FMLA, disability, CDL and disability forms, FAA and other documentation. Reviews protocols established for each procedure/study and provides patient with specifically-tailored training/information based on unique patient medical history and physician-specific protocols. Reviews patient medical records in detail to determine medication regimes (e.g. blood thinner medications, insulin, etc) and confirms what and how to take them prior to the procedure. As a member of this team, you will care for patients treated for stroke, infectious disease, pulmonary, GI, and many other diagnoses. Our team also proudly cares for patients pre/post diagnostic cardiac catheterization procedures. We have six rooms fully plumbed to handle dialysis patients. All rooms in our unit are private with their own restrooms, supply cabinets as well as couches and privacy curtains for the comfort of families who wish to stay close. Each room is equipped with a computer to facilitate documentation and medication verification. We utilize Epic as our electronic health record. Staffing: The management structure of the unit consists of an experienced Clinical Manager and a Clinical Coordinator who work together to oversee the unit. The Charge Nurses provide additional clinical support for the staff and help to maintain the flow of the unit. The staff is composed of RNs and Care Assistants, with support services provided by Respiratory Care, 24-hour Pharmacists, PT/OT, IV Therapy RNs, Dieticians and RN Care Managers.
