LPN or MA HCH Primary Care, Full-Time, Monday Through Thursday 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m.

Graduate of accredited school for Licensed Practical Nurses with current Ohio LPN license and graduate from an accredited school for Licensed Practical Nurses. Medical Assistants are required to have a High School Diploma or GED and BLS certification. Graduate from an accredited school for Medical Assistant or proof of certification as a Medical Assistant preferred. Previous experience as an LPN or Medical Assistant in a hospital setting preferred.

A Licensed Practical Nurse/MA performs a wide variety of activities, as directed by the Registered Nurse. Responsible for general office duties including answering phones, scheduling appointments, referrals, ordering supplies, calling in prescriptions, etc.  Assists physicians in providing direct patient care.  This position is responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing practice for managing supplies and equipment with the direction of the RN in charge, and for promoting teamwork with physicians and personnel of other departments.

Telephones/faxes prescriptions under the direction of a physician or provider. 8. Assists in emergency situations under the direction of the physician or provider. 9. Obtains specimens (i.e. throat, urine, wound, etc) using proper technique and following policy and protocol for labeling. 10. Performs CLIA waived testing, and other testing within the scope of practice and under the supervision of a physician or provider. 11. Maintain a clean, well-stocked patient care area, observing techniques and all other federal mandates, (i.e. OSHA, CLIA). 12. Pull charts for current day patient call, refills, etc. 13. Accurately files charts. 14. Performs pre-certification/prior authorization when necessary. 15. Cleans equipment efficiently; performs routine maintenance. 16. Orders medical supplies according to office policy. 17. Maintains continuing education units. Maintains current knowledge and skills in clinical practice. 18. Contributes in identifying methods of improving patient care. 19. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current license to practice as an RN in the State of Ohio. • Two years previous office experience preferred. • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. • Current CPR certification. • Customer service-oriented attitude/behavior. • Demonstrates skill and abilities in clinical and administrative areas including office lab testing, patient care skills, diagnostic testing and phlebotomy in some settings. • Ability to work with limited supervision and to make decisions based on established policies and procedures.
