Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Details: 

  • Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for you to have predictability in your schedule 
  • Culture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff 
  • Continuous investment in equipment including surgical instruments, devices and patient positioning for you to do your best work with patient safety and workflow efficiency in the Operating Room 
  • Rounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your voice is heard on suggestions for patient care and surgical workflow improvement 
  • On-call is required during select non-business hours 

What you will do in this role: 

  • Evaluate patients prior to surgery 
  • Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
  • Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification 
  • Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy 
  • Recognize and respond to patient emergencies 
  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives 
  • Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and more 
  • Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients
  • Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughly 
  • Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures 

What qualifications you will need:
  • (RN) Registered Nurse
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • 1+ year of OR Circulating experience required
  • Prior experience circulating podiatry and eye cases preferred

Orthopedic OR RN Circulator - PRN

Position Summary The OR Circulator Nurse is responsible for providing safe, efficient, and high-quality perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in our ambulatory orthopedic setting. This role requires a dynamic, detail-oriented nurse who can anticipate the needs of surgeons, ensure patient safety, and coordinate the surgical team for optimal workflow. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures in an outpatient setting. Function as the patient advocate throughout the perioperative experience. Perform circulating duties during orthopedic surgical cases, ensuring all safety protocols and sterile techniques are maintained. Verify patient identity, surgical site, and consent before procedures. Prepare, position, and monitor patients intraoperatively in collaboration with the surgical and anesthesia teams. Ensure all required equipment, instruments, and implants are available, functioning, and properly documented. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and scrub techs to ensure efficient case flow and turnover. Maintain accurate and timely charting in the electronic health record (EHR). Adhere to infection control, regulatory, and accreditation standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices. Support teammates in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized OR environment. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Utah. Certification: Current BLS required; ACLS preferred. CNOR certification a plus. Experience: Minimum 2 years of perioperative nursing experience required; orthopedic and ambulatory surgery experience strongly preferred. Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, and critical-thinking abilities in a fast-paced environment. Our diverse patient population loves coming to Mountain Point because of our walk-in tubs, complimentary massages, celebration meals, beautiful and spacious rooms, fantastic mountain views, and knowing they stay in the same room from admission to discharge. We pride ourselves on excellent patient experiences that cater to their preferences in a safe, comfortable environment. All nurses work shifts as mother-baby nurses and specialize in either labor or level 2 nursery. Our nurses must be flexible as their assigned area may change from shift to shift, or throughout a shift. Our labor patients are staffed one-on-one, except cervical ripenings are one to two. Mother-baby assignments are staffed by three couplets to one nurse. The level two nursery is staffed by one nurse to two babies. However, patient acuity may change the nurse-to-patient ratio. Because we all work together in one department, we work together well and know how to assist with patient care in the other specialty. We have a wide spectrum of experience and encourage questions and learning. Our employees can become instructors, serve in the Shared Governance Council, or contribute to other councils and projects. We receive overflow from anywhere in the hospital if they have a cardiac or neuro issue, provided they meet unit criteria. We generally serve an underlying medical population of patients, such as heads and hearts or any chest pains. We also care for a large variety of Orthopedic patients that come up from our operating rooms. Our mission is teamwork. Our department offers many opportunities to grow and learn because of our two service lines and the variety of nursing experience on the floor. Overall, we are a cardiac monitored floor/telemetry and have an exciting culture of new nurses, good energy, and a learning environment. This is a fast-moving floor.
