Summary

The Registered Nurse II - Acute Care – MCH role is responsible for the management of patient care, including clinical nursing practice/caring, leadership, management, professionalism, and growth/development, as well as the independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license as a Registered Professional Nurse required. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. ICU, SCU, ED and PACU RN’s require ACLS and PALS Certifications within one year of start date or in accordance with Department guidelines. OB, NICU RN’s require NRP Certification within one year of start date or in accordance with Department guidelines
  • Experience: One year of RN experience required. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of a Registered Nurse – Acute Care role.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Annual Electronic Fetal Monitoring competency for any RN assisting Laboring Women required.

CNS Certification Required The NICU and Continuing Care Nursery in The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital is a 51-bed level lll-lV unit. This is the largest ICU in the state of Maine. We have single rooms with state-of-the-art equipment and work closely with all disciplines- surgical, cardiac, GI, genetics, renal, palliative care etc. We have Neonatologists and APP’s covering 24/7 with a nursing staff of 150. We have an active critical care transport team and a nurse driven PICC Team. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit -31 beds & Continuing Care Nursery - 20 Beds. Summary The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at Maine Medical Center (MMC) is an advanced practice nurse as defined by the Maine Nurse Practice Act and/or the ANA Advanced Practice Standards (1996). The mission of the CNS is to assure the provision of expert, quality, evidence-based care for patients and families in a variety of practice settings. The CNS also provides leadership in the development of staff, resources, and programs that support the MMC mission. The CNS partners with health care providers and management teams to develop and deliver quality health care to specific patient populations within and beyond MMC.
