Key Position Details:

The Express Care located at New Ulm Medical Center is a walk-in clinic supporting acute patient care needs. The Express Care department operates at a fast pace in a collaborative team environment. New Ulm Medical Center is an integrated hospital and clinic practice. The express care providers collaborate with primary care and specialty care providers within the clinic, utilize laboratory and radiology services within the building, and may be supported by an emergency department when the patient need arises.  

  • Outpatient practice providing care to all ages, including growing families

  • Hours are Monday -Friday: 8:00am-7:00pm, and Saturday-Sunday 8:00am-3:00pm

  • This position has a schedule supporting every other weekend in the department and has flexible scheduling with the Express Care team.

Job Description:

Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a physician/nurse team in accordance with the designated specialty. Works in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Serves as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical care for patients

    • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.

    • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.

    • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.

    • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.

    • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.

    • Refers for specialty care when determined.

    • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.

  • Participates in health care team

    • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.

    • Acts as resource to members of the team.

    • Works with primary care team for program development.

    • Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.

    • Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program


Preferred Qualifications

  • New Graduates may be considered. Minimum 2 years experience in family practice, internal medicine, urgent or emergency care

  • RN (for NP) State of MN and/or WI license required

Pay Range

Pay Range: $133,120 to $137,280 per year
