Job Summary for RN Charge Nurse:

To assist unit manager to oversee and direct the day-to-day patient care. Supervising, directing and developing nursing staff and Reporting to the Unit Manager to ensure quality patient care on the Unit.

Qualifications:

· Must be a Registered Nurse with license in good standing.

· Experience in Acute Care within the last two years

· Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.

· Recent Charge Nurse experience

· Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.

· Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, sales representatives, and the public.

Responsibilities:

· Ensuring staff adheres to workplace protocols and procedures

· Overseeing the smooth transition from one shift to the other

· Acting as a liaison between nurses and doctors

· Creating and evaluating staffing plans and schedules

· Checking the availability of patient supplies and medications

· Maintaining and restoring health of residents

· Acting as a main point of contact between residents and their families

· Addressing and preventing concerns from family members

· Evaluating, prioritizing and meeting the care needs of each resident

· Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies.

· All other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provides direct supervision and monitoring of the nursing care given to our residents on a daily basis ensuring required documentation is completed. Provides leadership and guidance to the nursing staff. Provides treatments and medications for our residents. Attends and participates in “at risk” meetings, morning clinical meetings, QAPI meetings, safety meetings, and care plan meetings.
