Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN-RX) provide direct advanced nursing care to patients by performing comprehensive health assessments for the purpose of disease prevention and health promotion. In addition to providing comprehensive health care, some positions are also responsible for clinic management, coordination of health services, nursing program evaluation, and/or nursing policy development.
The APRN-RX prescribes the appropriate medications/drugs within their scope of practice, as recognized in a collegial working relationship with a licensed physician and an exclusionary formulary.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The subject position is located within the University of Hawaii, Leeward Community College (LCC), Student Services, Student Health Services (SHS), and reports to the Dean of Student Services. The primary purpose of the subject position is to provide healthcare services for the purpose of disease prevention, health promotion, and diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases through direct advanced nursing care to LCC students. Additionally, this position is responsible for providing emergency care and stabilizing patients for transfer to higher level of care when necessary.

Legal Authorization to Work:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
License/Recognition:
A. License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Hawaii.
B. Recognition to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with Prescriptive Authority, in the State of Hawaii.
C. Possession of a valid Hawaii State Type 3 Driver's License is desirable.
Special Requirements: The immediate position requires the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds unassisted, and 100 pounds assisted by another person and/or use of equipment (e.g., hoisting equipment, hand truck).
Selective Certification Requirements: In order to successfully perform the essential lifesaving duties required of the position, the incumbent must possess certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), which includes the ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and to appropriately use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
