Medication Technician (Med Tech)
Starting at $15.00/hour – $750 Sign-On Bonus
PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB POSITION
Administer medications to residents in accordance with physician orders, facility policy, and applicable state regulations while ensuring resident safety and accurate documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Successful completion of an approved Medication Administration Training program.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Experience in a personal care or long-term care setting preferred.
Must be detail-oriented, dependable, and organized.
RESIDENT RIGHTS
Respect resident rights and privacy at all times.
Communicate clearly and courteously with residents, families, and coworkers.
Report grievances and suspected abuse or neglect immediately per facility policy.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Accurately administer oral, topical, and other approved medications per orders and schedule.
Document medication administration, refusals, and observations per policy.
Report medication errors or adverse reactions immediately to supervisor.
Assist with resident care tasks as directed, ensuring comfort and safety.
Maintain accurate records of narcotic counts and controlled substances.
Communicate with pharmacy regarding reorders, returns, and discrepancies.
Assist with orientation and mentoring of new staff as assigned.
SAFETY AND SANITATION
Follow infection prevention and safe medication handling procedures.
Maintain a clean medication cart and secure storage of all medications.
Use PPE and hand hygiene appropriately; report hazards or spills immediately.
Participate in all safety and emergency response drills.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift 50 lbs and assist residents as needed.
Stand and walk for extended periods; manual dexterity for medication handling.
Reliable attendance and ability to work varying shifts as required.
