SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse is accountable for the management of patient care during a designated timeframe. The responsibilities include coordination and evaluation of care, teaching and delegation of patient activities to the other health care team members via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, and the environment.

 

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; Associates degree in Nursing required. BSN degree preferred or must agree in writing to obtain a BSN within five years. Current RN licensure in the State of Michigan required. BLS required.  Previous medical surgical experience preferred. Must be computer proficient and have excellent customer service skills.

Reviews billing processes with patient and/or family advising patient and/or family when co-pay or Medicare is not likely to pay for services. The unit cares for cardiac patients suffering from Heart attack, heart failure, arrythmias, and various percutaneous interventions, in a progressive care setting. The Nurse Coordinator assumes delegated accountability from the Nurse Manager for operations, scheduling and staffing for a specified period. The Nurse Coordinator demonstrates proficiency in working with complex patients according to the unit's scope of practice and serves as a unit resource and leader. He/she demonstrates communication and conflict resolution skills for staff. Role model for Relationship Based Care. .9 FTE - 7 p - 7 a UNIT DESCRIPTION Patients admitted to the SNICU require intensive care monitoring including those patients with hemodynamic instability, compromised respiratory status and frequent neurological monitoring during the post-operative period of hospitalization. The population of patients includes cardiothoracic surgery, trauma, vascular and general surgeries. Additionally, the SNICU treats a wide range of serious neurological conditions, including both ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, and aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. The SNICU has expanded its neuroscience capabilities by acquiring a biplane and thrombectomy certification. Patients admitted to the Surgical PCU include Pre and Post-surgical trauma patients, in a progressive care setting. WHAT YOU WILL DO The Nurse Coordinator demonstrates proficiency in working with complex patients according to the unit's scope of practice and serves as a unit resource and leader. They demonstrate communication and conflict resolution skills for staff and are a role model for Relationship Based Care. The Nurse Coordinator leads and facilitates day-to-day operational issues; is knowledgeable about unit budget and the volume adjusted staffing model; participates in patient care as needed; actively leads staff in implementing changes and new initiatives and coaches, supports and mentors unit colleagues.
