Acts as collaborative member of the clinic team in providing continuity of and quality patient care. Assesses and provides appropriate intervention for the problems that patients and families experience related to their health care and treatment to include teaching, counseling and supporting as needed to assist provider, patient and family. Also acts as lead clinician in assistance to provider and/or as dedicated telephone assistant.

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

License, Certification and/or Registration: Current Alabama State Registered Nurses License. BCLS must be obtained during orientation period.
Experience: Minimum of one year clinic experience in direct patient care setting. Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities: Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to use computer terminal, fax machine and copy machine. Must be able to work well in a team environment.

AICU is an 8-bed Medical/Surgical Adult ICU at the Huntsville Hospital for Women/Children campus. Orientation consists of working with an experienced staff and length of orientation is typically 6-12 weeks depending on experience. AICU is the only adult critical care unit at the Women/Children campus. The AICU offers a challenging workflow for RN’s. AICU receives a variety of patients that includes primarily critical Medical patients, but also Antepartum, Postpartum, GYN Oncology, GYN, ENT, and any adult patient at WC that requires intensive monitoring. The RN’s in AICU are trained to care for a variety of critical situations including hemorrhage, critical OB, CRRT, ventilators, and titrating drips. We have 4-beds wired for fetal monitoring that is monitored by an L&D RN on our campus for our critical Antepartum patient. AICU RN’s are responsible for all Rapid Responses and Code Blue situations for the adult patient population at WC. The staff in AICU works closely with health care providers to provide excellent care and compassion to our customers. Our staff has the opportunity to participate in Shared Governance, Clinical Ladder programs, and CEU offerings available online & at Corporate University. Education: Graduate of state board School of Nursing with current Alabama or multi-state licensure Experience: Experience preferred; new graduates accepted.
