Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Wound Care Nurse to join our team of wound care professionals. As part of our team, you would be responsible for providing care under the supervision of a Nurse Practitioner. To be considered for this position, you must be a licensed practical nurse (LPN); bilingual candidates are strongly preferred.

Job Responsibilities

  • The LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE / WOUND CARE TREATMENT NURSE is a member of the patient care team responsible for providing care under the supervision of a Nurse Practitioner

  • The LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE / WOUND CARE TREATMENT NURSE is responsible for providing primary skin care to residents, with an emphasis on the treatment and therapy of skin disorders

  • Identify, manage, and treat specific skin disorders and primary and secondary lesions, such as skin abrasions, foot problems such as corns and callouses, decubitus ulcers, bacterial, parasitic, and viral skin infections, scaling popular diseases, and benign tumors

  • Provide, with established protocols and under the supervision of the Nurse Practitioner, treatment for uncomplicated dermatologic disorders

  • Document treatment and findings in resident health record

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organization skills required

  • Must be able to read, write, and understand the English language

  • Assist in the evaluation and manage all acute, chronic wounds, surgical wounds and dermatologic wounds

  • Track treatments and patient progress according to HIPAA guidelines

  • Provides individualized patient teaching and counseling

Qualifications:

  • Valid IL Practical Nurse License (LPN)

  • Two (2) years of clinical experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse in an acute and/or subacute hospital environment with treatment nurse experience

  • CPR and basic life support (BLS) certifications

  • Certification and prior experience in wound care
