Summary

Registered Nurse, RN Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.

  • Functions as charge nurse as assigned

  • Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care

  • Administers medication as ordered by physician

  • Recognizes life threatening situations and responds appropriately

  • Establishes collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with other Health System staff and medical staff

  • Monitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicators

  • Actively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient services

  • Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients

  • Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimen

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

Education and Formal Training: 

  • Associates Degree in Nursing required

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred

  • Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure

Unit Description:

  • 4 VPN is a 12-Bed female unit with all private rooms., working on a track schedule.

  • Patient ratio 1:5.

  • Our patients include female patients with the following diagnosis or treatments who do not require telemetry, critical drip infusions or ventilator support:

  • Our Care team consists of Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistant, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Case Managers

  • New Graduate Nurses are accepted and welcome

Work Experience: 

  • 1-2 years of related clinical experience preferred.

  • Bariatric Surgeries/Sleeve Gastrectomy’s/ Gastric Bypass

  • Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

  • Laparoscopic Appendectomy

  • GYN Surgeries

  • Overflow of mother & baby

  • Urology Surgeries

  • Breast Surgeries

  • All Abdominal/Bowel Surgeries

  • Incision & Drainage/Wound Infections

  • General Trauma Surgeries

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: 

  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills 

  • Verbal and written skills required 

  • Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills

  • Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served

Physical Requirements: 

  • Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs

Carries out activities related to discharge planning, participates in patient care rounds, care coordination and referral to other levels of care. Works with the physician, interdisciplinary team, and other members of the Case Management team to facilitate clinical guidelines and achievement to desire treatment outcomes. Works collaboratively to ensure patient needs are met and care delivery is coordinated across the continuum at the appropriate level of care.
