ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership within the FDIHB Leadership Council, Nurse Executive Committee, Quality Committee and works with other clinical and non-clinical leaders in the hospital’s organizational structure for shared decision-making efforts.
  • Provide effective communication to the FDIHB Board of Directors, CEO, Leadership Council, Nursing Executive Committee and FDIHB staff.
  • Create a Nursing Division strategic plan that includes staffing needs, capital and non-capital equipment needs, workforce expansion needs and future directions of the Nursing Division.
  • Identify Division wide and Department systemic problems and take initiative to provide solutions for identified barriers and problems.
  • Provide uninterrupted, evidence based, quality nursing care delivery to FDIHB patients that supports the mission, vision and values of the organization.
  • Ensure that adequate nurse leadership and adequate nursing staff is available to maintain continuity of direct patient care operations.
  • Responsible for Nursing leadership within the Primary Care Medical Home Model to ensure patient access to care and maximizing comprehensive care plans.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, Navajo Nation and local regulations, including CMS, NFPA, OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
  • Develop, implement and maintenance of ethical, clinical, environmental and safety policies for the Nursing division that uphold the highest quality Nursing standards of care.
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to design, implement, evaluate and report Nursing Division and Nursing Department quality metrics to maintain Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts at FDIHB.
  • Ensure timely Division wide completion of Quality driven priorities including, but not limited to, CMS, QAPI, RL6. RCA and patient complaints.
  • Work with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to create an Annual Budget for Nursing Division operations.
  • Effective management of Nursing Division salary, Locum contract pay, staff training, staff travel, nursing education, and will be fiscally responsible with the Nursing budget.
  • Work with Nursing leadership for hiring, orienting, training, providing professional development/advancement and maintaining clinical competencies for nursing staff within the Nursing Division.
  • Work with nursing leadership to provide coaching, enforcing disciplinary action and, if necessary, terminating of permanent and Locum nursing staff.
  • Perform routine evaluations (and performance improvement plans, if necessary) of nursing leadership and ensuring nursing leadership is providing evaluation and feedback for Nursing staff (and performance improvement plans, if necessary).
  • Work with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to maximize evidence based clinical care and improve interdisciplinary models and systems of care.
  • Work with the Chief of Healthy Living and Outreach to support community driven programs, clinical outreach and seasonal vaccination efforts.
  • Create a safe, respectful and healthy environment for the Nursing Division based on the principles of K’e and Hozho.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

  • Ten (10) years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a hospital setting.
  • Five (5) years of senior leadership experience in Nursing or a Healthcare related

    EDUCATION:

    • Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited educational institution.
    • Must have a valid and unrestricted RN license in any US state or territory.
