Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated RN to join our team as the Assistant Director of Nursing Services (ADNS) and Infection Control Nurse.  This dual-role position combines leadership in nursing administration and infection prevention supporting the facility’s commitment to providing high-quality care in compliance with state and federal guidelines.  The ideal candidate is technically proficient, detail-oriented, and passionate about fostering a safe, healthy environment for both residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Infection Control Duties

  • Oversee the facility’s infection prevention and control program, ensuring adherence to protocols and compliance with all regulatory standards.

  • Monitor and report infection data, conduct routine infection surveillance, and implement preventive measures in collaboration with the clinical team.

  • Provide ongoing infection control education to staff, including training on current protocols, PPE usage, and best practices.

  • Conduct audits and review data to identify trends and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

Wound Care Duties

  • Manage and monitor all aspects of wound care for residents, including assessments, treatments, and documentation.

  • Develop individualized wound care plans, working closely with the clinical team to ensure effective, evidence-based treatment and prevention of wounds.

  • Train and educate nursing staff on wound care best practices, protocols, and preventive care to improve outcomes.

  • Conduct regular audits of wound care documentation and processes to maintain quality standards and regulatory compliance.

Assistant Director of Nursing (ADNS) Duties

  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services (DNS) in daily clinical operations and overall management of the nursing team.

  • Act as a resource for nursing staff, offering guidance, training, and support in clinical practices and resident care.

  • Provide leadership in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, maintaining accurate records, and facilitating quality assurance initiatives.

  • Serve as acting DNS in the absence of the DNS to ensure continuity of care and leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Current, unrestricted RN license in Connecticut.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in long-term care, with a strong background in infection control, wound care, and/or nursing leadership.

  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, infection control, and wound care documentation software.

  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with a detail-oriented and proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) and/or Wound Care (WCC) preferred, or willingness to obtain within one year of hire.

The Director of Nursing (DON) is the senior nursing leadership position at Harbor Village Rehabilitation. The DON provides strategic, operational, and clinical oversight of all nursing services and teams to ensure high-quality resident care in a skilled nursing and rehabilitation environment.
