Position: RN Unit Manager
Schedule: Full Time | 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Pay Rate: $55.00 per hour

Position Summary

Nassau Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced RN Unit Manager to join our leadership team. The ideal candidate will oversee the daily operations of the nursing unit, ensuring the highest level of care and compliance with facility policies and state regulations. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director and Associate Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and overseeing the Nursing Department’s daily functions.

  • Supervise nursing personnel to ensure all staff follow established duties and standards of care.

  • Participate in facility surveys and inspections as requested.

  • Develop, implement, and regularly update residents’ care plans.

  • Conduct LPN and CNA evaluations; provide coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions when necessary.

  • Participate in staffing decisions, including hiring, probation, and termination processes.

  • Maintain communication with physicians, families, and nursing administration regarding resident needs and updates.

  • Ensure adequate nursing coverage for all shifts to maintain quality care.

  • Make daily rounds to ensure performance and compliance with nursing standards.

  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiatives.

  • Monitor medication passes, treatments, and clinical documentation for accuracy and timeliness.

  • Complete required assessments (MDS) and ensure documentation compliance.

  • Review lab work, investigate incidents, and ensure resident safety and comfort.

  • Collaborate with Social Services on discharge planning and continuity of care.

Qualifications

  • Current, active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.

  • 2+ years of nursing experience, preferably in a long-term care or rehabilitation setting.

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Proficiency with SigmaCare or similar electronic health record systems.

  • Ability to make sound clinical and administrative decisions independently.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.

  • Prior nursing home management experience strongly preferred.
