Responsibilities
The Wound Ostomy Care Nurse is a nurse specialist whose scope of practice involves the age-specific care of patients aged neonate through geriatric; includes planning, implementing, educating, and evaluating the care of patients with impaired skin integrity, ostomies, and complex or chronic wounds, including surgical wounds. As a clinician, the Wound Ostomy Care Nurse provides direct patient care, consultations, assessments, recommendations, and ongoing re-evaluation of nursing care for hospitalized patients and outpatients under the specific scope of practice. The Wound Ostomy Care Nurse is a resource for nursing staff, patients, families, and physicians. The Wound Ostomy Care Nurse sees patients with a physician or nursing consult as ordered through EPIC.

Qualifications
Required:
- One year in nursing
- Bachelor Degree
- One of: CWOCN or CWON Must obtain Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) credential within two years of hire
- Registered Nurse (IN)
Desired:
- One year as a wound ostomy nurse
- Master Degree
- Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse OR Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse
