Responsibilities:

Responsible for the complete nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, teaching, evaluation and documentation of patient care from a patients admission through discharge.
Integrates contributions of interdisciplinary team to assure best possible outcomes are achieved.
Supervises and maintains a professional relationship with licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel.

Clinical Practice:

Communicates patient care needs including change of status, using SBAR, to Medical Staff and members of the interdisciplinary team with an appropriate sense of urgency.
Appropriately uses chain of command.
Participates in team conferences and professional and organization meetings.

Adaptability and Flexibility:

Rotates to all units based on patient care needs.
Adjusts to changes in policy and procedure, unit and patient populations.

Professional Development:

Complies with CE requirement for license renewal as determined by the State of Illinois.

Attends outside continuing education workshops and shares knowledge obtained with interprofessional team and applies new information in practice.

Qualifications

Required:

Current Illinois RN license.
BLS CPR certification through American Heart Association.
ADN or higher nursing degree (i.e. BSN) or signed learning agreement required upon hire.
Analytical skills necessary to assess a patient's condition and utilize the nursing process and professional judgment in providing comprehensive patient care.
Ability to interact with patients, families, medical personnel and other members of the health care team.
Ability to perform effectively and efficiently in stressful, urgent situations.
Cognizant of customer needs related to culture, age, developmental level and diagnoses.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

Bachelors degree.
Previous rehabilitation nursing work experience.

Feinberg Pavilion – Main operating room pavilion, open 24/7 for scheduled and urgent/emergent cases Prentice Women’s Hospital – Focusing on women’s health: gyne, breast, plastics, and robotics Lavin Family Pavilion – Outpatient procedures, including ophthalmology, ENT, general surgery, plastics, orthopedics, spine Northwestern Medicine is a Level I trauma center. OR Scheduling and Call Requirements: CVT team members will rotate call requirements onto the weekend and be required to cover holiday shifts. You will be required to take call with a 30-minute response time. CVT call teams have two members on-call every day to support and respond to CVT emergencies and add-on cases, with a minimum call requirement of 100-120 hours in a six-week period.
