CRNA Requirements: The clinician functions under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.

  • Graduation of an Accredited Nurse Anesthesia Program, Master’s Degree or Higher Required.

  • Registered Nurse licensure from the State of North Carolina Board of Nursing + Currently Certified or Recertified to practice as a Nurse Anesthetist by the National Board

  • Current CPR Certification – ACLS, BLS

  • Ability to demonstrate clinical competency within the scope of granted privileges.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse clinical teams.

Deliver resuscitative care as needed in emergency situations. This position is based at the West Ashley Medical Pavillion (WAMP) , which serves an adult outpatient population across several specialized service areas, including Orthopedics, Interventional Radiology (IR), Electrophysiology (EP), and Endoscopy. The facility features state-of-the-art Operating Rooms (ORs), and Procedure Rooms designed to support high-quality, efficient ambulatory surgical care. Minimum Training and Education: Must be a graduate of Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs approved programs of anesthesia, and certified, or recertified by the National Board on Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists, and insurable by the medical malpractice insurer of MUSC for the required limits. The minimum education requirement for those hired after March 1, 2019, is a master’s degree, or higher, with the concentration in Nurse Anesthesia. Must demonstrate current competency in the clinical privileges extended. Must be proficient in the operation of anesthesia equipment. Current knowledge in anesthesia practice. Must exhibit basic knowledge of safety in a health care facility. Knowledge and practice of universal precautions in patient contact is required. Must be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with surgeons, residents, anesthesia personnel, and nursing staff. Guidelines for practice are described in the departmental policy and procedure book. CRNAs practice under the clinical supervision of the anesthesiologist and the administrative supervision of the CRNA manager. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Must be recognized as an APRN, or eligible, with current license to practice, or eligible to obtain practice in the state of South Carolina. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required, a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA), BLS for Healthcare Providers.
