About the unit 8N is a 28-bed med/surg unit with a renal focus; we see a wide variety of patients who are in acute and chronic renal failure requiring hemodialysis and Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis. This unit gives you the opportunity to work with various disciplines including Nephrologist, social workers, case managers, and dieticians to develop critical thinking skills as well as clinical skill development. The unit has a close-knit group of nurses resulting in great teamwork. There are 8 telemetry monitored beds in the unit to monitor the renal patient with cardiac complications. Scope of work The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record. Qualifications Associates in Nursing Required Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination. We see a variety of different medical conditions and disease processes including Cardiac, Neuro, Respiratory, Infectious Disease, and Psych. The unit has the capability to monitor 8 cardiac telemetry patients. About the unit 9 South is a 32 bed medical unit that cares for a wide variety of diagnosis and multiple chronic co-morbidities in the patients with an age range 18-100+. On our unit houses our ACE (Acute Care of the Elderly) program; This program helps to avoid complications for our patients 65+ so that they can return to their baseline function prior to their hospitalization and hopefully return to the home setting. The unit also sees a variety of medical overflow so you will never be bored. We have the capability to monitor 8 telemetry cardiac patients. About the unit 6 North is a 32-bed surgical floor that offers a great learning environment fostered by our team of exceptional nurses. 6 North offers experiences that are normally not found in Med-Surg clinical rotation. The unit has a focus on surgical conditions including urology procedures, major and minor abdominal surgeries, ENT, bariatric and pulmonary surgeries, peripheral vascular procedures as well as other general surgical post-op needs. The unit has 8 telemetry beds for patients requiring cardiac monitoring. It is a fast-paced environment that you will never find boring.
