LPN - Emergency Department - part-time

Job Description

Reports to the Emergency Department Manager. Licensed Practical Nurses perform a wide variety of direct patient care for selected emergent and non-emergent patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Practices as a licensed practical nurse, providing a scope of basic nursing practice, as delegated by a registered professional nurse or advanced practicing providers and/or physicians.

Hours: 7am-7:30pm

Responsibilities

Assists providers with the care of patients in a timely and cost effective manner. Demonstrates clinical competence while providing care.,  Collaborating in the development and modification of the registered professional nurse’s or provider’s comprehensive plan of care for all types of patients.,  Collecting data and collaborating in the assessment of the health status of a patient., Manages an environment that promotes patient’s self-esteem, dignity, safety, and comfort., Obtains and maintains professional knowledge by completing required knowledge and skills through orientation and competency activities specific to the unit, unit based in-service programs, reading current literature and seeking new clinical learning opportunities.,  Participates in activities to enhance individual and professional development., Participates in the communications with patients, families, significant others, and health care teams and promotes participation regarding the plan of care, as delegated., Performs phlebotomy, 12-lead EKGs, point-of-care testing and splint application. Cleans/stock exam rooms/work spaces on an ongoing basis. Cleans instruments/equipment post procedure and prepares for Central Sterile pickup., Promotes and establishes effective relationships within the department, with other departments and with patient/family and other guests., Provides accurate and timely documentation in patient record. Documents interventions and patient/family response., Provides and participates in learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of the patient/family and health care team, as delegated., Providing input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safety., Seeks assistance when a situation encountered is beyond the nurse’s knowledge, experience and scope of practice according to the state licensure of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)., Serving as an advocate for the patient by utilizing appropriate channels of communication within the organization and external to the organization to promote continuity of care.
