Job Requirements

 POSITION SUMMARY 

The Certified Medical Assistant provides and ensures patients receive whole care in all aspects of an office visit, regarding intake, test results, screenings, labs, medication administration, closure of care gaps while delivering excellent customer service to the patients, families and other care Providers, focusing on patient-centered care. 

 

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES  

  1. Accurately prepares and performs point of care testing such as urine dipstick, blood glucose, etc. Performs clinical intake to include vital signs, medical history, surgical history, social history, and verification of patient’s current medications.  
  2. Prepares and administers medications as ordered by provider utilizing the “6 Rights” of Medication Administration, to include documentation and coding. Controlled substances, insulin and allergy doses must be checked by a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practitioner.  
  3. Assists in stocking and orders supplies as well as maintains equipment and coordinates medical supply ordering with site manager. 
  4. Prepares patients for examination and have pre-work available for provider as directed, to include notes, diagnostic test results and imaging. 
  5. Prepares and performs point of care testing and/or specimen collection as directed by provider. 
  6. Tracks and communicates to patients, labs, and diagnostic studies results, as directed by the provider through phone calls, portal messages or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) buckets. Communicates to Licensed Practitioners on abnormal findings retrieved from the lab, imaging, specialty offices, etc. and completes accurate documentation. 
  7. Follows safety processes and policies including applying proper infection prevention procedures, maintaining a clean environment and equipment, to ensure proper care is given. Complete and document adverse events, infection control and quality control measures as required. Complies with office policy and procedure, Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) Standards and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Regulations as Deliver excellent customer service to the patients/families and other care providers.   
  8. Maintains patient flow after check ins and discuss’ patient flow with Licensed Practitioner according to urgency and daily patient load. 
  9. Occasionally provides coverage in other areas of Hospital Division or office to support other departmental needs including patient registration, payment collections, patient checkout and appointment scheduling.  
  10. Complies with all office policy and procedures, OSHA Standards and HIPAA Privacy Regulations as stated in HIPAA Policy and Procedure Manual.  
  11. Answers internal and external customer phone calls and direct messages to the appropriate individuals. Ensures all documentation is complete and documented in the Electronic Medical Record. Act as a liaison between support services and other clinical divisions.  
  12. Provides customer follow up and education to ensure customer’s participation in their care and showing respect for their needs. Adjust communications to meet the customer’s needs, expectations, age, culture, and individual differences.


Work Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Education:  
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  2. Technical Diploma in Medical Assisting. 
  • Work Experience: None 
  • Licensure: None 
  • Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained. 
  • Work Experience in Lieu of Education: Six (6) months or more in related clinical experience in lieu of Technical Diploma. 
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: 
  1. Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 
  2. Must be able to pass colorblind testing to perform point-of-care (POC) tests requiring color change. 
  3. Strong customer service skills including knowledge of recovery techniques. 
  4. Knowledge of Medical Terminology. 
  5. Ability to assist more than one provider at a time. 

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Work Experience: One (1) year of experience working as a Medical Assistant. 
  • Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

  • Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently. 
  • May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.  
  • May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead. 
  • May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift. 
  • May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.  
  • May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines. 
  • Communicating with others to exchange information. 
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks. 
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined.

Job Requirements POSITION SUMMARY: In alignment with Health First commitments of Quality / No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship, the HFMG Clinical Team Lead oversees and coordinates job training, orientation, and competency assessment of clinical staff. This position also provides clinical care of patients under the direction of the providers at Health First Medical Group (HFMG) offices. TEAM LEAD ACCOUNTABILITIES: Serve as the first level for problem resolution (internal and external customers) in the absence of supervisor/manager. Assigns daily or shift task assignments to clinical staff. Ensure new hire clinical associates receive a comprehensive orientation and training to job duties, customer service standards and general performance expectations. Ensure 90-day/annual clinical competency assessments are conducted and individual development plans are documented as appropriate. Coaches clinical staff and providers in adoption of customer service techniques of “managing up”, explaining delays and use of the Health First service scripting in internal and external interactions.
