Restorative CNA - Wellness Instructor

Working with the Rehab Therapy Team

Job Type: Part Time

Schedule: Up to 20 hours

Setting: Rehabilitation Center, Skilled Nursing Facility, Senior Care Wellness

Location: Magnolia, TX

As a CNA/Wellness Instructor for Restorative Care, you will:

  • Report to the Director of Rehabilitation / Therapy and work exclusively with the therapy team to provide knowledge and expertise in delivering appropriate wellness, fitness, and exercise programs.
  • Receive full restorative training provided onsite. No restorative experience necessary, (CNA Certification Required)
  • Assist in the restorative care of patients as directed.
  • Exclusive restorative responsibilities (Ambulation, transfer training, bed mobility, active/passive range of motion, dressing/grooming, splint/prosthesis care) with limited or none of the “less desirable” tasks that often accompany a CNA position.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Current certification as Certified Nursing Assistant / CNA in state of practice
  • Specialty certification as personal trainer, exercise specialist, fitness instructor, health and fitness specialist or similar area, preferred.
  • Background in exercise and activity training with senior populations, preferred.

Position Summary Provides basic nursing care to residents within the scope of the nursing assistant responsibilities and performs basic nursing procedures under the direction of the licensed nurse supervisor. Principal Responsibilities · Participates in and receives nursing report upon reporting for duty and documents information accurately · Assists with lifting, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc. · Assists residents in ambulation with or without self-help devices as instructed · Accurately measures and records temperatures, pulses, respirations, and blood pressures (TPRs and B/P) as instructed · Ensures that residents’ personal care needs are being met in accordance with residents’ wishes · Maintains cleanliness of resident units, central bathing area, treatment and supply rooms, workrooms, and linen closets; cleans bedpans, urinals, and commodes; washes basins and emesis basins; sanitizes bathtub after each resident’s use; cleans floors if resident is incontinent; wipes spilled foods and liquids · Advises charge nurse of resident(s) condition beginning and end of shift · Ability to comply with Company and departmental safety policies and procedures · Account for personal care (i.e. Grooming, bathing, catheter care, and dressing), and observation of residents within patient care guidelines. Identify and report any condition requiring management attention · Provides hydration to all residents according to center policy · Ensures all protected health information is kept confidential · Reports all allegations of resident abuse, neglect and/or misappropriation of resident property · Provides range of motion exercise · Assures that residents are positioned appropriately for meals · Serves food trays and assists with feeding as indicated · Delivers and documents all a.m., p.m., and bedtime snacks and supplements · Performs miscellaneous tasks as required by policy or nurse supervisor Physical Demands – Office While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and pull/push; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
