About the Role:

Our Beacon team is looking to add Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Behavioral Hospital on the Northshore.  Our team is seeking PRN for day and night shifts.  Our LPNs play a critical role in delivering compassionate and effective nursing care to patients within a behavioral health setting. This position is responsible for supporting the healthcare team by providing direct patient care, monitoring patient conditions, and assisting with treatment plans tailored to behavioral health needs. Our LPNs will ensure patient safety and comfort while adhering to hospital protocols and regulatory standards. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is essential to promote holistic care and positive patient outcomes. Ultimately, our LPNs contribute to creating a therapeutic environment that supports recovery and well-being for individuals facing behavioral health challenges.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Louisiana.
  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. CPI training preferred. 
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in behavioral health nursing or related healthcare services.
  • Ability to pass background checks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a behavioral health or psychiatric hospital setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used in behavioral health.
  • Additional certifications such as CPR, First Aid, or de-escalation techniques training.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills tailored to diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with daily living activities.
  • Observe and document patient behavior and physical condition, reporting any changes or concerns to the registered nurse or physician promptly.
  • Assist in implementing individualized care plans developed by the healthcare team, ensuring adherence to behavioral health protocols.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment by following hospital policies, infection control procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists to support comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, medication management, and coping strategies as appropriate.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in behavioral health nursing.
