Position Summary:

Establishes and maintains rapport with students, parents, school administrators and staff, and other contacts outside of the organization. Promotes and protects the optimal health of students.   • Facilitates access to immunizations.
  • Evaluates the urgency and complexity of the need for action or referral.
  • Provides health assessments:
  • Screens and evaluates findings of deficit in vision, hearing, scoliosis, growth, etc.
  • Identifies deviant health findings.
  • Participates in the formulation of policies and procedures for the control of communicable diseases within the school.
  • Provides emergency care for illness and injury occurring while student is under school jurisdiction.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Valid Michigan Registered Nurse License
  • Current BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification
  • Experience preferred in areas of Public Health and child/pediatric care, including but not limited to preventive needs, childhood diseases, and psychosocial aspects of growth and development
  • Agrees to maintain confidentiality of all student records/information, including, health records, scholastic, counseling and other administrative records
  • Completion of Fingerprinting through CHRISS
