Position Summary:
Establishes and maintains rapport with students, parents, school administrators and staff, and other contacts outside of the organization. Promotes and protects the optimal health of students. Participates in the formulation of policies and procedures for the control of communicable diseases within the school.

Position Summary:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Acts independently; consistently exercises discretion and judgment in performing work which is predominantly intellectual and varied in nature.
- Establishes and maintains rapport with students, parents, school administrators and staff, and other contacts outside of the organization.
- Promotes and protects the optimal health of students.
- Identifies health problems through observation, interviews and analysis of records.
- Coordinates and participate in screening services.
- Facilitates access to immunizations.
- Evaluates the urgency and complexity of the need for action or referral.
- Provides health assessments:
- Screens and evaluates findings of deficit in vision, hearing, scoliosis, growth, etc.
- Identifies deviant health findings.
- Participates in the formulation of policies and procedures for the control of communicable diseases within the school.
- Provides emergency care for illness and injury occurring while student is under school jurisdiction.
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Valid Michigan Registered Nurse License
- Current BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification
- Experience preferred in areas of Public Health and child/pediatric care, including but not limited to preventive needs, childhood diseases, and psychosocial aspects of growth and development
- Agrees to maintain confidentiality of all student records/information, including, health records, scholastic, counseling and other administrative records
- Completion of Fingerprinting through CHRISS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
