Registered Nurse - Operating Room/Cardiovascular Lab

Department: Operating Room/Cardiovascular Lab (equal split between areas), $20,000 sign on bonus available

Position Summary:

Responsible for the delivery of nursing care within the assigned unit scope of practice following hospital policies and procedures, nursing process guidelines, standards of care, and standards of practice.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assesses each assigned patient, documents, and evaluates their response to plan of care, and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Plans and implements the patient’s plan of care/standard of care and provides patient teaching using the plan of care/standard of care.
  • Oversees all ancillary personnel for technical tasks.
  • Seeks to improve quality of service by continuously developing individual and unit competencies within scope of practice.
  • Integrates into practice the research of best practice benchmarking and clinical pathways.

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Experience in specialty area will be considered. Experience specific to the unit/position may be required to maintain overall competency level of unit, as required by regulatory agency.
  • Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license.
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification as Healthcare Provider.
  • ACLS required within six months of hire.
  • PALS, TNCC and ENPC within one year for Emergency Department.

Preferred:

  • One year of professional nursing experience

Registered Nurse First Assistant

Position Summary: Provides patient care under the direction of Cardiovascular Thoracic surgeon and Cardiovascular services. During intraoperative care, serves as the first assistant to the surgeon during the surgical procedures. Assists the medical staff with pre and post-operative care of the cardiovascular patient in Intensive Care and Cardiac Specialty Unit, based on defined RNFA job specific competencies. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Functions primarily as a member of the CVTS team under the direction and supervision of the surgeon. When scheduling permits, will assist other members of the medical staff in patient management or in the performance of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Demonstrates sound first assist surgical skills throughout the peri-operative phase and post-operative phase, based on defined RNFA job specific competencies-see addendum, Assists with pre-operative testing of the patient, reviewing patient chart in preparation of discussion with the surgeon, including clinical review of medical history, lab and diagnostic test results, and medications.
