A Brief Overview
IV Therapy Registered Nurses deliver care to all patient populations in all care settings where infusion therapies are administered and where vascular access devices are inserted and managed. The IV therapy RN serves as an expert resource in vascular device selection, insertion, maintenance and monitoring with a focus on complication prevention and treatment when indicated.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science: Nursing (BSN) Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse - KSBN A multistate license with the ability to practice within the State of Kansas is also accepted. Required

  • Basic Life Support - BLS Must have within 90 days of hire.

  • RQI, CPR or ACLS certifications may be required in lieu of or in addition to BLS depending on department.

The Staff Development Coordinator will build the clinical department in accordance with current Federal, State and company standards, guidelines and regulations. The RN or LVN will Demonstrate and teach resident care in classroom and clinical units to nursing staff. Elmhurst is a 27-bed unit. • Call rotation • Create and complete education and competency check offs for nursing staff. This requires interacting with staff on the floor and observing cares on each unit. • Identifies, plans, implements, directs and evaluates educational programs within the facility based upon individual facility needs, resident needs, and in compliance with State and Federal regulations; implements these programs on all shifts. • Responsible for planning, coordinating and conducting required in-service programs and/or special training sessions in compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and/or corporate requirements. • Collaborates with the Director of Nursing (designee) to complete periodic needs assessment identifying ongoing learning needs of staff and assists in developing and conducting educational programs to meet the identified needs. • Maintains appropriate documentation of educational programming, each individual employee’s attendance at educational programs and competency validation as needed. • Follow up with new employees within 10 days of orientation to ensure they feel comfortable with the training they received on the floor. Collect orientation check list that is given out during orientation for on the floor training. • Schedule and conduct regular meetings with mentors. • Separate monthly meetings with CNA’s and Nurses to go over required documentation and offer refreshers. This can be done on the units or in the education room.
