Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department 2 South Med/Step Down Job Family Nursing Work Shift Nights (United States of America) Summary Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned. Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Assesses the patient and identifies patient care needs Uses patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient care Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates patient care Facilitates a safe environment Maintains required competencies Functions as charge nurse as assigned Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care Administers medication as ordered by physician Recognizes life threatening situations and responds appropriately Establishes collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with other Health System staff and medical staff Monitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicators Actively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient services Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimen Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education and Formal Training : Associates Degree in Nursing required Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure Unit Description: 7 South is a 33-bed unit with all private rooms. Our Care team consists of Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistants, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Case Managers, Physical Therapists, Dieticians and Occupational and Speech Therapists. New Graduate Nurses are accepted! Our Patients include Adult and Geriatric patients. Position consists of flexible shifts to include weekends and holidays. Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Completes daily patient assignments Rounds with the physicians Acts as point of contact for the physicians and administrators Serve as resource to staff nurses, nursing assistants, monitors techs and unit secretaries Assists with procedures, checks orders Responsible for daily QC and equipment checks on unit Evaluates daily patient acuity Assists the PCM in evaluating personnel work performance in terms of performance criteria and staff relations May assist with development of monthly staff schedule Assists with clinical education of staff members in the absence of Clinical Educator/Preceptor Rounds on patients and family members at regular intervals Interfaces with Care Coordinator and discharge planning Interfaces with Patient Placement and nursing supervisors Expected to take patient assignment when other staffing options have been exhausted Implement process as defined by the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP) Facilitate and monitor staff performance relative to Press Gainey/HCAAPS Carries cell phone to facilitate improved and timely communication Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education and Formal Training : Associates in Nursing required Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina Unit Description: 7 South is a 33-bed unit with all private rooms.
