Completes physical and social history within 30 minutes after patient’s arrival. Recognizes symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress or other impending emergencies. Participates in the universal protocol time out process on each patient. Reviews medical history, physical examination, nursing care plan and all available assessment data. Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports it to the appropriate person. Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal oriented care plan for each patient in collaboration with members of the health care team and provides care based on that plan. Follows hospital policy for Minimal/Moderate sedation. Including pre and post assessment. Identifies common recurrent patient problems, symptoms and behavioral changes using standards of care. Consistently performs necessary unit specific safety & quality control checks (i.e. VO/TO Read Back, crash cart checks, refrigerator logs & outdate checks).
