Job Summary
Coordinates efforts to achieve and maintain certification with appropriate agencies. Works collaboratively with Medical Director to lead, direct and implement patient care protocols for patients through collaboration with physicians, staff and personnel from various patient care areas of the organization. Leads the organization’s efforts to ensure quality outcomes are achieved for cardiac patients throughout the patient care experience. Provides specialized nursing knowledge and expertise while functioning as a clinician, educator, researcher and consultant to medical/nursing staff, patients and families.

Job Requirements
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
- Nursing experience: Preferred
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS) certification: Required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS): Required
- Coordinates all disciplines involved in patient care to ensure appropriate, cost effective/efficient progression through the system and continuity of care. Leads multidisciplinary team efforts to identify clinical problems and needs. Designs processes to implement/manage patient transitions through the system pre- and post-discharge. Evaluates care to ensure desired patient outcomes. Manages program with complete discretion and independent judgment.
- Analyzes patient data collected and outcomes, monitors and trends reporting surrounding condition management issues. Performs rounds with appropriate departments, as required. Conducts ongoing review and education on affected disorders to include all shifts, ensuring all elements of the stewarded programs are in place and functioning appropriately.
- Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient quality of care for population served. Assesses educational needs of hospital staff related to stroke. Plans and leads participates in educational activities for patients, families, staff, physicians and community.
- Acts as clinical resource to staff by providing in-services, validating cardiac/stroke-related competencies and advising management of training needs. Develops and implements internal/external clinical education programs. Provides education and collaboration for pre-hospital care organizations.
- Serves as the point-of-contact for programs to both internal/external customers and healthcare providers. Maintains/ensures continued success of the program by complying with requirements for ongoing data submission and outcomes monitoring as outlined by the relevant agencies.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
