Responsibilities

  • The nurse director is a professional registered nurse with twenty-four-hour responsibility for assigned departments within established standards to achieve the mission and vision of the organization.
  • The nursing director is responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit/departments and executes supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • The nurse director provides leadership and mentorship in the development of leaders and staff.
  • The nurse director is responsible for monitoring and evaluating quality, patient satisfaction, and employee satisfaction outcomes to implement strategies for improvement.
  • The nurse director is a change agent and will establish strong collaborative relationships with physicians.
  • Responsible for overall administrative, financial, and clinical activities of assigned departments.

Qualifications

Job Requirements: 

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • BSN
  • Current certification in ACLS
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
  • Must possess a current Kansas License as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience in a leadership role

This requires interacting with staff on the floor and observing cares on each unit. • Identifies, plans, implements, directs and evaluates educational programs within the facility based upon individual facility needs, resident needs, and in compliance with State and Federal regulations; implements these programs on all shifts. • Responsible for planning, coordinating and conducting required in-service programs and/or special training sessions in compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and/or corporate requirements. • Collaborates with the Director of Nursing (designee) to complete periodic needs assessment identifying ongoing learning needs of staff and assists in developing and conducting educational programs to meet the identified needs. • Maintains appropriate documentation of educational programming, each individual employee’s attendance at educational programs and competency validation as needed. • Follow up with new employees within 10 days of orientation to ensure they feel comfortable with the training they received on the floor. Collect orientation check list that is given out during orientation for on the floor training. • Schedule and conduct regular meetings with mentors. • Separate monthly meetings with CNA’s and Nurses to go over required documentation and offer refreshers. This can be done on the units or in the education room.
