POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Nursing Assistant in Training (NAIT) is a temporary position that exists to prepare NAITs to successfully pass the Minnesota Nursing Assistant competency exam. As an NAIT, you will be responsible for similar duties as a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) once deemed competent through specific training. Upon completion of the 75-hr NATCEP course, the NAIT will take and pass both MN state exams for skills and knowledge. You are allowed three attempts to pass the skills portion of the exam and four attempts to pass the knowledge portion of the exam. You will need to be on the MN state registry within 4 months from your hire date. After successfully passing both state exams, you will then apply internally for the open CNA position at your current facility.

General Description of the Job Class The Nursing Assistant (NA) is a patient care support partner with the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and performs work as delegated by the RN or LPN. The NA provides direct care to patients and assists with non-direct patient care unit coordination. The individual in this position is expected to perform basic care and comfort standards as well as have knowledge of the patient population needs in the assigned work area.
