Job Summary and Qualifications

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

Under general supervision the Staff RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Medical Center of Lewisville. In collaboration with patient, patient’s family and other members of the health care team, the clinical RN is responsible for assessing the nursing care needs of patients, planning interventions and evaluating outcomes of care. The RN provides direct care and/or supervises nursing care of LVN’s and non-licensed nursing staff. The RN is responsible for providing care consistent with the Nursing Department’s policies, procedures and standards of practice.

RN’s are responsible for providing care, which is appropriate to the age specific (adolescent, adult and geriatric patients), developmental and safety needs of the assigned patient population. In addition to the RN duties and responsibilities, the RN scope includes charge duties. The charge nurse makes patient assignments and supervises and directs the staff and unit activities for the assigned shif

What you will do in this role:

  • Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.
  • Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • TX RN licensure or RN compact state license
  • Bachelors Degree
