The OB Float Pool team members are expected to float to all regional OB departments, Butterworth L&D and Butterworth Post-Partum . Locations include Big Rapids, Fremont, Ludington, Hastings, Greenville, Zeeland, Butterworth in Grand Rapids.


Position requires 3 years of OB RN experience.

Qualifications 

  • Associates in Nursing Required

  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months 
  • CRT-Fetal Heart Monitoring Certification – 2yrs required

About the Unit Reed City Campus has a 20 bed medical surgical unit. This campus is the perfect place to gain experience as a new nurse and grow your career! The patient population in Big Rapids is very diverse, it consists of primarily hospitalist medicine patients with a wide variety of diagnosis, some of which include: pneumonia, COPD, cellulitis, kidney failure, and bowel obstructions. These diagnoses provide the opportunity to develop acute care skills such as IV placement, chest tubes and NG placement/management. In our critical care unit it is common to see high acuity patients with sepsis, hyperglycemia and respiratory failure whose plan of care would include managing medication drips (insulin, vasopressors, etc.) and the utilization of equipment such as ventilators and BIPAPs. Big Rapids has a well-established team that works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team that includes hospitalists, care managers, social workers, pharmacy, nurse techs, physical therapists, and occupational therapists to provide quality care for our patients. We have a good mix of experienced RNs that work alongside our education team to provide our new hires and grads with a great onboarding experience. For scheduling we currently have a six week rotating core so you are able to determine ahead of time when to schedule appointments, etc. to maintain a good work life balance. About the unit Our unit: We are a labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum unit with 7 private rooms, 3 triage beds, a whirlpool, and a C-section suite located in our department. We average 300 deliveries and over 500 triages per year. Our nurses are certified in fetal monitoring, neonatal resuscitation, infant STABLE. We have a strong midwife program and are equipped to handle emergencies and most high-risk deliveries. We have 24-hour newborn coverage by nurse practitioners from Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. About the Unit Our Ludington Hospital OB unit, is an 8 bed unit that had recent renovations done in 2019 to make the layout of the halls more user friendly. We have 3 Labor and Delivery Rooms and 5 Postpartum Rooms. We are well known for our excellent Antepartum, Labor and Deliver and Postpartum Care. We have very low turnover and have 13-15 RN's on the team along with 2 resource Nurse Techs. We are the inpatient OB Unit in Mason County and surrounding counties, so we deliver care to patients from as far north as Cadillac and also serve many patients from Lake and Oceana County.
