Job Description Join the University of Chicago Medicine as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner for our NICU Department. Our NICU features 71 beds including a transitional care unit located close to our postpartum unit. Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Essential Job Functions Provide direct patient care and formulate a plan of care in collaboration with the physician, nursing staff, and the multidisciplinary health team by privileges approved by the Credentials Committee. Communicate follow-up plan/disposition with the follow-up health care provider. Prescribe and evaluate pharmacological therapies according to protocol. Attend both high and low-risk deliveries as needed. Initiate CPR and perform therapeutic techniques to stabilize a compromised infant in the delivery room, NICU, and emergency room, and refer hospitals as needed. Stabilize and transport patients as needed. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of current professional and legal trends, concepts, and issues related to practice. Identify the educational needs of family members and assist with teaching as appropriate. Ensure that appropriate systems and resources are in place to maintain established standards of care. Participate in self and peer evaluation to improve quality of care. Participate in developing, reviewing, and evaluating policies and procedures.
