The Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API) is recruiting for a

Psychiatric Nurse 1/2

What You Will Be Doing:
As a Psychiatric Nurse 1/2 you will be providing skilled nursing care to patients; individualized patient assessment and care; participates in therapeutic activities as facilitator, or co-facilitator. You will administer medications to patients and provide education including expected outcomes, possible side effects, and any food/drug interactions. You will transcribe all orders, recording this information in each patient's Medication Administration Record (MAR) and chart regarding patient behavior and responses to medication treatment. Job requires complete nursing assessments on newly admitted patients, patients on close observation special status, or patients that may require emergency seclusion or restraint. You will also determine and prioritize individual nursing needs, give direction to Office Assistant 1s and Psychiatric Nursing Assistants 1/2/3 including work assignments and monitoring those assignments for both completion and accuracy.

Psychiatric Nurse 2:
Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska;
AND EITHER
Successful completion of a formal training plan as a Psychiatric Nurse 1 with the State of Alaska;
OR
One year of entry level experience as a Registered Nurse. Examples of this experience include but are not exclusively limited to prior service as a Psychiatric Nurse 1, Corrections Nurse 1, or Nurse 1 with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer.

Substitution:
Combinations of prior training and experience in other specializations of nursing care (e.g., Med-Surg, Corrections, Public Health, Critical Care) will be evaluated for comparability on a case-by-case basis.

• Copies of all performance evaluations that have been received for the last two(2) years, if available.

4. Provide annual Influenza vaccination or a signed declination statement.  
5. Proof of Tuberculosis screening within the past 12 months.
