The Director of Nursing, RN is responsible for overseeing the safe and effective delivery of care within a resident-focused memory care community. This leadership role ensures that all health and wellness services align with the highest standards of person-centered care, regulatory compliance, and best practices in dementia care.

DEPARTMENT OVERSIGHT & LEADERSHIP

  • Provide oversight of the entire health and wellness department and associates.
  • Oversight of resident medication management program.
  • Complete the annual performance review for all health and wellness associates in accordance with the annual common review date.
  • Provide associate documented counseling when warranted.
  • Implement and ensure adherence to programs and activities in accordance with Artis Senior Living policies and procedures, state regulations, and guidelines that govern the community.
  • Responsible for timely assessments of potential new resident move-ins, on-site or offsite.
  • Maintain policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the Health and Wellness department.
  • Partner with the Director of Sales and Marketing to build relationships with referral sources and participate in monthly sales presentations, speaking engagements, and sales calls.
  • Supervise, recruit, train, and develop department team members to maximize their potential and align with department goals.
  • Own the candidate experience for department open positions using the applicant tracking system (ATS) and effective communication.
  • Create and implement an onboarding plan for newly hired department associates.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, progress, and updates to keep all team members informed.
  • Identifies and monitors department culture so that it promotes employee satisfaction.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and set development plans (if applicable) for direct reports.
  • Provide support to associates in the handling of human resource related activities which may include associate questions or concerns, communication and the interpretation of policies and procedures.

RESIDENT WELLBEING & CARE

  • Review Resident Care plans with Director of Community Integration (DCI), ensuring each plan best supports the overall well-being of resident needs and engages crossfunctional support.
  • Partner with the Director of Culinary Services (DCS) to ensure residents’ nutritional and hydration needs are managed appropriately.
  • Collaborate with DCI during resident move-in to orient resident to the community.
  • Coordinate annual influenza and COVID-19 vaccine clinics.

COMPLIANCE, SAFETY, ETHICS, AND QUALITY ASSURANCE

  • Ensure workspace and public areas are neat, orderly and free from environmental hazards.
  • Adherence to state regulations, Artis’ policies and procedures, and the rules and requirements outlined in the Artis Associate Handbook.
  • Adhere to all infection prevention, OSHA, fire, and safety regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of all community residents and team members.
  • Observe and follow community policies and procedures regarding resident and team member safety, attendance, timeliness, house rules, teamwork, and resident service.
  • Promote a culture of safety, ethics, and compliance within the community.
  • Perform any additional duties as requested to support the team and residents.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a current RN licensure from the State Board of Nursing.
