GRADE ASTD11 LOCATION OF POSITION MDH - Western Maryland Hospital Center 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue Hagerstown, MD 21742 Main Purpose of Job Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, the Geriatric Nursing Assistant II (GNA II) provides routine daily nursing care to residents and patients. This position ensures a safe and comfortable environment and also assists all residents and patients to their optimal level of health and functioning. The Geriatric Nursing Assistant has additional training beyond the basic Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training. The focus of the GNA training is elder care. Certified Nursing Assistant training provides the basic tenets and scope of practice for care provided by both the CNA and GNA. Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: One year of experience as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant in any type of healthcare delivery setting. Notes Candidates may substitute experience in the direct care of patients for the required education on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Hospital Corpsman classifications or Health Care Specialists and Medical Services specialty codes in the nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
