Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner - Clifton Springs Behavioral Health Clinic (Per Diem)

SUMMARY

Provide assessment, care and treatment for psychiatric patients being treated for various diagnosis in an outpatient mental health setting. The NP will work as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes a psychiatrist, social workers, licensed mental health counselors and RNs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patient Care. Take complex medical histories on patients referred for consultation by academic and community physicians.
  • Management & Development. Reach tentative diagnosis of medical, surgical and other conditions; develop treatment plans in conjunction with attending physician to provide optimal patient medical management; order consultations and interact with members of other specialty medical teams.
  • Patient Satisfaction. Interacts on a frequent, regular and daily basis with patients, family members, medical/social/public services support, regulatory agencies and/or payor agencies. Interaction and communication requires expressed empathy, understanding, problem-solving, education, information gathering, process influencing and counseling.
  • Medication & Orders. Prescribe medication, write orders, perform procedures and respond to emergency and/or immediate condition changes of patients.
  • Documentation. Obtain complete, detailed and accurate patient histories, review patient records, perform physical exams, record all pertinent data to develop comprehensive medical status, diagnosis and clinical treatment plan for all assigned patients.

Per Diem Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP)- Inpatient Program

Overview Helio Health is on a mission to treat and promote recovery from the effects of substance use, mental health disorders, and other behavioral healthcare issues. To support the mission of Helio Health, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide medical and psychiatric evaluation, order routine lab work and diagnostic testing to medically assess the psychiatric and substance use disorder level of care needs for patients. The NP will also make appropriate medical and psychiatric referrals, assist staff in understanding patient’s needs, with all work performed under the medical and clinical supervision of the program's Service Director and Executive Medical Director. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work on a Per Diem basis out of Helio Health’s Rochester Inpatient program. The Psych NP will work 5-10 hours per week to complete psych assessments and medication management. Pay Rate: $135,000 - $156,000 per year. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care of medical examination and monitoring, psychiatric consultation, implementation of medical orders, and treatment of psychiatric conditions. Serve on special review and quality assurance committees as assigned. Provide and document medical and psychiatric consultation, assessment, examination, treatment planning and review consistent with agency policy and requirements. Other related assignments and duties consistent with training and experience. Qualifications Must be a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner licensed and currently registered by the New York State Education Department. Medicaid certification is required.
