Come join our Nursing family and be an integral part of our med/surg telemetry team! We offer an extensive onboarding experience with a dedicated Preceptor that includes continuing education, SIM lab, and a dedicated professional development specialist. Our nurses collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and carry out a patient centered plan of care. This position involves treating a diverse patient population with a variety of medical conditions and post surgical care needs. The medical surgical RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with Bristol Health's established policies, procedures, and evidence based protocols. Tasks and responsibilities include: telemetry monitoring and interpretation, carrying out physician orders, administering prescribed medication, wound care, vital sign monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition utilizing computerized documentation and information technology tools, orienting and mentoring new team members, following universal precautions utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment.

Schedule: 36 Hours, 12 Hour Shifts, Days, Every Other Weekend

Qualifications


Educational / Minimum Requirements:

Associate in Nursing required, Bachelor in Nursing Preferred

Current CT RN License in good standing, required

6 months of clinical nursing experience in acute or subacute, required

State/Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements:

  • Current State of Connecticut licensure as a Registered Nurse. Certification from a professional nursing body preferred.
  • BLS at time of hire.
  • ACLS within 6 months of hire

Bristol Health Mandated Educational Requirements:

General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Successfully complete all training programs as determined by professional development & HRD department. Other unit based competencies/skills as required.  Annual Influenza immunization is a job requirement unless the candidate seeks a medical or religious exemption. The request must be in writing.

Special Requirements:

Successfully complete unit based competency package, plus unit specific items. Strong team skills.

Physical Requirements:

Physical agility with repetitive occurrence including but not limited to; walking, running, bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, crouching, crawling, balancing, reaching, standing, sitting, and twisting. Lifting greater than 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the work day. Looking at a computer monitor. Vision acuity correctable to normal. Hearing acuity correctable to normal. Acute sense of smell for normal perception. Ability to verbalize so that the average person can comprehend.

Work Environment:

Regular exposure to patient elements, occasional stress.
