Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

What you will do in this role:

Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for assigned patient
Meeting the Standards of Practice for the Emergency Department (ED) and managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment
Participate in activities to plan, measure, assess and improve the quality of patient care
Routinely provides triage assessment for patients presenting for treatment
Routinely performs venipunctures for obtaining specimens for lab tests
Routinely provides intervention in emergency, life-threatening situations
Assumes the responsibility of charging the department, as needed

What qualifications you will need:

Current Texas Licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners
Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) required, Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BLCLS) and Certification
American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification within 6 months of hire
American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course (PALS) and Certification within 6 months of hire
One year experience in Emergency Services (ED) (ER) (FSED)

Job Summary and Qualifications What you will do in this role: You will be responsible for assessing, planning and implementing the admission process. You will be responsible for coordinating care and collaborating with other departments to ensure positive patient outcomes and that all of the needs of the patients and significant others are met. You will be responsible for the administration of medications, knowledge of actions, indications, adverse reactions, dosage, and route. Also, must reassess patients for effectiveness of medication and document appropriately. You will coordinate discharge planning/case management services from the Observation Unit. You will maintain clear and respectful communication with patient, family, physician, and other healthcare providers. Practice excellent customer service at all times. What qualifications you will need: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with an Associates or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 60 days of hire date).
