Job Requirements
POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide superior quality, competitive value and outstanding service by providing administrative oversight for all Neuroscience Service Line (NSL) business functions. Plays an integral role in organizational planning and promotion. Works in close collaboration with NSL center Medical Director, System Director and Project manager to coordinate and ensure that all administrative needs are met, in order to provide outstanding service in the NSL.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Engagement:
- Provides leadership for NSL by positively influencing others through knowledge, attitude, and interest.
- Leeds Neuroscience SL committee with hospital administrators, physician champion, physicians, and key staff.
- Integrate program into Health First System Neuroscience Service Line.
- Manage the build out and oversee the day-to-day facility operations within the Center.
- Develop a community education and seminar program inclusive of schedules, presenters, content and materials.
- Achieve results
- Conducts meetings, identifies problems, and acts as a catalyst in developing solutions among different health professionals. This includes medical staff and nursing staff in neurology, neurosurgery and interventional neuroradiology.
- Understands and promotes mission and oversees goal setting of NSL.
- Works collaboratively and interacts effectively as the liaison between NSL and all other Health First entities, hospital departments, medical staff, and community organizations. Be an integral part of developing marketing strategies.
- Quality/No Harm:
- Coordinates acute stroke care at all HF hospitals.
- Organizes the development of epilepsy monitoring unit and neurologic intensive care unit.
- Collaborates with Quality and out comes coordinator to address deficiencies in clinical care such as core measures, complications, length of stay and readmissions. Analyze, interpret and report stroke outcome indicators and compare with national benchmarks.
- Create performance indicators and ensure implementation of processes leading to desired outcomes.
- Coordinate stroke center referrals in collaboration with the transfer center. Participates in Neurology Journal Club and Morbidity/Mortality meetings.
- Assist with education, support groups and conferences.
- Develop a telestroke program in community hospitals and set up systems and monitor outcomes
Customer Experience:
- Facilitates the coordination and continuity of care and services for neurological patients, including updating order sets and policies as guidelines are established.
- Perform patient call back surveys.
- Assess patient, physician/staff satisfaction
- Meet customer satisfaction outcomes based on Press Ganey criteria and benchmarks.
- Identify patient amenities and secure necessary resources to administer the services.
- Stewardship:
- Utilizes LEAN principles to create an efficient, goal oriented, outcome driven program.
- Works with providers and administration to identify opportunities to increase volume, reimbursement and contribution margins.
- Decreases total direct cost, readmissions and, length of stay through the development of clinical pathways under the direction of physician champions Assist with tracking /assessment of neuroscience service line efficiencies and outcomes
- Target desired market share areas; increase hospital presence
- Increase PCP awareness of benefits of the program Engage in program development activities in an ongoing manner
Work Experience
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Clinical background - R.N. Required Bachelor Degree, Masters preferred
- Neuroscience or related field, plus minimum of 5 years of experience preferred
- Strong leadership skills, including decision-making, personnel direction and project management
- Outstanding negotiation skills, in settings involving several key stakeholders
- Superior analytical skills, including the ability to combine qualitative and quantitative data
- Excellent organizational skills, including time management
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills, demonstrate ability to conduct meetings and speak in front of groups, and be able to communicate using various mediums
- Must participate in Institute-related off campus programs as required
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office and MS Windows
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all areas
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time and perform typing skills using hand dexterity up to two hours at a time, 6-8 hours per day
- Ability to work flexible and/or long hours as required
- Must be able to bend and reach at all times
- Must be able to carry a minimum of 20 lbs.
- Must have visual acuity/ near depth perception, visual acuity / far depth perception at all times
- Must be able to hear and speak clearly.
