Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients with a broad range of illnesses. The RN is involved in direct and indirect patient care. The RN provides direction to licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) and other non-licensed nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. The staff nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the hospital. In collaboration with other health team members, follows the philosophy, policies and goals of the facility and department.

What qualifications you will need:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:Graduate of accredited nursing school
Preferred: Computer skills
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Required:Current Texas RN license. If Compact License, Texas License must be obtained within 90 days of hire. (or current compact RN licensure in approved state if claiming residency in other state)
BLS certification through the AHA or Red Cross.
ACLS required through AHA or Red Cross in: L&D, ED, PACU, Endo, ICU, Imaging, OR (only if performing moderate sedation activities). New hires have 90 days to obtain ACLS. ER, L&D and ICU 6 months.
NRP required in: L&D. New hires have 6 months to obtain NRP in L&D.

Job Summary and Qualifications The HCA Nurse Residency Program at St. Davids Healthcare provides you with the tools necessary to succeed in today’s hospital environment. This paid program will assist you with the transition out of the classroom setting through a formalized series of learning experiences, including: Advanced clinical training in a specialty area. Monthly educational sessions. Preceptorship training with a facility preceptor. Measurement and evaluation of skills through hands-on simulations. Mentoring from experienced nurse leaders. Working collaboratively on an evidence-based practice project. Inpatient Rehab RN Residency positions are available at the following hospitals: St. Davids Medical Center St. Davids Georgetown Hospital Round Rock Medical Center St. Davids Surgical Hospital Fall cohort start dates in August, September, October and November 2025. The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN Resident provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN Resident serves as an advocate for patients, families and caregivers to support an unparalleled patient experience. What will you do in this role: Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status. Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Perform the administration of prescribed medications. Monitor patient for therapeutic response. Notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication. Perform exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strive to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively. Teach patients, families and caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
